Murten, Fribourg

Morat, Fribourg. A few months ago we discovered in the Canton of Fribourg a really charming village. With all our visitors we used to go to Gruyere but from now on, Murten we'll be included in our tours. It's a historic medieval town on Murten's lake, at 453 m. above the sea level. The highlight of the village is it's old city wall with its towers. Visitors can walk on it and it has magnificent views of the village and the lake.

Morat, Friburgo. Hace poco descubrimos muy cerca de Lausana este pueblecito con mucho encanto. Una de nuestras visitas obligadas con cada visita que teníamos era Gruyere, pero a partir de ahora incluiremos Murten en el circuito. En un pueblo medieval situado en el lago con mismo nombre, a 453 m. sobre el nivel del mar. Se conserva todavía una muralla con sus torres, por donde podemos pasear y ver unas vistas magníficas del lago y la ciudad.

In the lower part of the city there's a walk side on the lake's shore with green areas and some boats. The bilingualism is an important element of Morat's/Murten's identity; about 76% of the population are German speakers and 13% are French speakers.

 

En la parte baja hay un paseo muy bonito junto a la orilla del lago, con zonas verdes y un pequeño puerto para embarcaciones. El bilingüismo es un elemento importante de la identidad de Morat/Murten; alrededor del 76% de la población es de habla alemana y el 13% francesa.

This October we're going to do a famous running course in the area: The Murten-Fribourg course, this great classic brings around 8.000 runners together every year; there're several categories: one to run 16.7 km from Murten and another one from Courtepin to do 8.8 km. We'll make a post of it! :)

Este octubre vamos a correr una carrera muy famosa en la zona: la carrera Murten-Friburgo, este gran clásico trae alrededor de 8000 corredores cada año. Hay varias categorías, una para hacer 17.5 Km desde Murten hasta Friburgo y otra desde Courtepin de 8.8 km. ¡Ya haremos un post para enseñároslo! :)
