Le Baron Tavernier deck & restaurant, Lavaux

Le Deck, terrace Lavaux, Chexbres. One of our friends recommended the Deck bar as a nice place to have a drink with a great view of Lake Léman and the Alps. So last Sunday coming back from our  hike, we stop by to visit this absolutely gorgeous location!  Although we only had some coffees there, the menu at the terrace restaurant looked very tasty (and not so expensive).
 

Le Deck, gran terraza en Lavaux, Chexbres. Una amiga nos recomendó Le Deck, como bar agrdable para beber algo y disfrutar de las vistas del lago Leman y de los Alpes. Así que volviendo de una excursión que hicimos el domingo, aprovechamos para dejarnos caer por allí. Vaya localización para una terraza, increíble! Aunque sólo tomamos unos cafés, el menu en el restaurante de la terraza tenía muy buena pinta.

At the terrace-lounge there's an infinity pool which produces a nice effect over the lake, and every detail is well designed. The service was correct. Remember to book in advance! Especially in sunny days. For us it's the perfect place to take visitors who are not from the Lavaux region =) Thanks for being there!! See you next week!

 

En la terraza, según entramos, hay una piscina infinita que da un efecto precioso con el lago de fondo. Estamos deseando volver para probar la comidade Le Deck, seguro que de este verano no pasa! Es casi obligatorio reservar, en cuanto hace buen tiempo se llena. Es el sitio perfecto para llevar a la gente que viene a visitarnos. Muchas gracias por estar ahí una semana más!!

Bellerive-Plage, Lausanne, Vaud. One of our favorite places to enjoy the warm weather during the summer time. This complex is an example of funcionalist architecture, with swimming pools and a round building containing the entrance hall and the restaurant. It creates the initial point of a 400 meters long curved axis of concrete. In this building are located the changing rooms, taking up two levels: one for women and one for men. On the third floor there's a beautiful sun terrace and the restaurant.

Bellerive Plage, Lausana, Canton de Vaud. Uno de nuestros lugares favoritos para disfrutar del cálido verano. Este complejo es un ejemplo de arquitectura funcionalista, con piscinas y un edificio circular que contiene el restaurante y el hall de entrada, creando el punto inicial de un eje curvo de 400m. hecho en hormigón. Una idea rotunda que albergará los vestuarios, en dos niveles, uno para mujeres y otro para hombres. En el tercer piso encontramos una terraza y el restaurante.

The entire complex was built from 1936 to 1937, during a time of economic crisis. The project was part of a plan to counteract unemployment: to promote job-creation machines were not allowed on the construction site. The architect was Marc Piccard from Lausanne. He was also responsible for enlarging the site in 1962. A meticulous renovation was carried out in 1993 by the architects Inès Lamunière and Patrick Devanthéry, with careful attention to the historical parts of the building.

El conjunto fue construido de 1936 a 1937, durante un periodo de gran crisis económica. Se hizo formando parte de un plan contra el desempleo, en incluso para promover la creación de puestos de trabajo, no se utilizaron máquinas en la construcción. El arquitecto fue Marc Piccard, natural de Lausanne. También fue el responsable de la ampliación en 1962. Años más tarde, en 1993, una meticulosa restauración fue llevada a cabo por los arquitectos Inès Lamuniére y Patrick Devanthéry, con particular cuidado a las partes más antiguas y valiosas del edificio.

Every detail is well-designed as the handrails, the pergolas for sun protection or the springboards. It surprising how modern this building looks in spite of its construction in 1936!

Todos los detalles estás muy cuidades y diseñados como las barandillas, las pérgolas para la protección solar, o los trampolines. Es increíble lo moderno que parece el edificio, a pesar de su construcción en 1936!

Ville le lac, Le Corbusier

Last spring we had the opportunity  to visit "La ville le lac", the small house designed by Le Corbusier to his mother on Léman's lake shore. Normally it's just opened on Monday and Wenesday mornings, but the ECAL organised an exhibition with objects designed by students of Industriel Design, and they opened on Saturday.

 

La pasada primavera tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar "La ville le lac", la pequeña casa que Le Corbusier diseñó para su madre a orillas del lago Léman. Normalmente sólo está abierta los lunes y miércoles por la mañana, pero la ECAL organizó una exposición con objetos creados por los estudiantes de Diseño Industrial, así que la abrieron el sábado.

Le Corbusier began looking for a building plot; he soon found this narrow strip of land by a lakeside, at Corseaux. It seems he foreshadowed three of the "five points for a new architecture": the roof as a sun deck or garden, the open plan and the ribbon window. A "Purist" house, truly a "machine for living". 

 

Le Corbusier empezó buscando una parcela; pronto encontró esta banda de terreno estrecha junto al lago, en Corseaux. En esta casa parece que presagió tres de los "cinco puntos para una nueva arquitectura": el tejado como una terraza o jardín, la planta abierta y la ventana corrida. Una casa "purista", una "máquina para vivir". 

The ribbon window (11 meters long) facing the south lets the sunlight flood into all of the main rooms.

The south wall has an opening whose dimensions are those of a ribbon window base module. This opening becomes a sort of natural picture, with the presence of a small table. The north façades were surfaced with hot-dip galvanished steel sheets (1931) and the south face with aluminium sheets (1950). Le Corbusier's parents moved into the house in 1924.

El muro sur tiene una apertura cuyas dimensiones son las de un módulo de la ventana corrida. Este hueco se convierte en una especie de cuadro natural que te invita a mirar fijamente desde la pequeña mesa junto a él. La fachada norte fue cubierta con unas placas de acero galvanizado (1931) y la cara sur con láminas de aluminio (1950). Los padres de Le Corbusier se mudaron a la casa en 1924.
