Gorges de l'Areuse, Neuchâtel. After having been once in Noiraigue, to see the Creux du Van, http://www.lovingswitzerland.com/2013/04/le-creux-du-van-neuchatel.html, we never thought we would come back to this area to make another hiking path so interesting. But we did it! The Gorges de l'Areuse is an excursion mostly for autumn, when you can see the espectacular colours of the leafs in trees and on the ground. The randonnée starts at Noiraigue, but we left  the car at Boudry (where we would finish). When you're at the station you can't imagine there's a river channel so beautiful really near by. To have a good start we drank a hot chocolate with a super nice croissant at the only bar in town! L'auberge, in face of the station.

Después de haber ido una vez a Noiraigue, a ver la Creux du Van http://www.lovingswitzerland.com/2013/04/le-creux-du-van-neuchatel.html, nunca pensamos en volver a esta zona de Suiza a hacer otra excursión tan interesante. Pero volvimos! Las gargantas de l'Areuse es una ruta principalmente para el otoño, cuando se pueden disfrutar de los espectaculares colores de las hojas. El sendero empieza en Noiraigue, dejamos el coche en Boudry (dónde terminaríamos). Cuando llegas a la estación es difícil imaginar que existe ese espectacular curso de un río tan cerca. Para comenzar con buen pie nos tomamos un chocolate con un croissant en el único bar del pueblo. L'auberge, al lado de la estación.
 

The path is really easy to find, you only have to follow the boards to Boudry (the typical yellow arrows all around Switzerland!) . It's an easy hike for everyone, with a duration of three hours, and about 11.5 km, but there are not big slopes to go up if you start in Noiraigue. In the middle of the itinerary there's a restaurant, it seemed nice but we didn't try it. http://www.la-truite.ch/ .

Es fácil encontrar el sendero, sólo hay que seguir los carteles de Boudry (las características flechas amarillas que hay por toda Suiza). Es una excursión para todos, con una duración de unas tres horas y 11,5 km., no hay grandes rampas si comienzas en Noiraigue. Y en mitad de la ruta hay un restaurante que tenía buena pinta aunque no lo probamos. El único punto de civilización en el recorrido!
 

We love autumn! For us, it's the best season to walk, take pictures and fall in love! Every landscape becomes lovely with the magical colors of the leafs around. If you want to discover this magical path, here is some practical info about it:

Nos encanta el otoño. Para nosotros la mejor estación para caminar, tomar fotografías o enamorarse! Grande Dixence, Valais

Grande Dixence, Valais. Last summer we decided to visit the Grande Dixence dam in the Val d'Hérens. We were really impressed by this huge concrete construction. It is the world's highest concrete dam, standing 285 meters. We arrived by car to the bottom of the dam, and from there we took the cable car to reach the top (remember to take some cash with you, credit cards are not accepted. The price is 10.-) Once you're at the top, you'll enjoy the great views of  Val d'Hérens and the Lac des Dix. An amazing 360º panorama view of the impressive landscape. Presa de la Grande Dixence, Canton de Valais. El pasado verano decidimos visitar la presa  Grande Dixence en el Val d'Hérens. Realmente nos impresionó mucho esta enorme construcción de hormigón en plena naturaleza. Es la presa a mayor altitud del mundo, (cerca de 2000m.), y se eleva 285 m. Llegamos allí en coche a la parte de abajo, y desde allí cogimos el teleférico a la parte alta (recordad coger algo de dinero ya que no aceptan tarjeta de crédito, son unos 10.-) Una vez arriba, podreis disfrutar de las increíbles vistas del Lac de Dix. Desde ese punto hay varias rutas, siendo la más conocida el Chemin des Bouquetins.

Unfortunately the lake was not completely full of water. The lake is full between september and january to produce more electricity for heating, to fight  winter´s cold temperatures. We would like to visit it again with fresh snow this winter. There are some aerial photos of the dam and lake in the Swiss tourism website that are really incredible. Desgraciadamente el lago de Dix no estaba rebosante de agua. Se llena completamente entre septiembre y enero para producir más electricidad debido a la calefacción para combatir las frías temperaturas. Nos gustaría visitarla otra vez con una nevada reciente este invierno. We really encourage you to go if you are travelling around Switzerland. Maybe it isn´t in the highlights of the travel guides, but you´ll never regret it if you visit this massive construction and the landscape around it. Os recomendamos mucho ir a la presa si estais visitando Suiza. Puede que en las guías no figure entre los lugares más visitados, pero no os arrepentireis de visitar esta brutal construcción y el paisaje que la rodea. Bellerive-Plage, Lausanne

 

Bellerive-Plage, Lausanne, Vaud. One of our favorite places to enjoy the warm weather during the summer time. This complex is an example of funcionalist architecture, with swimming pools and a round building containing the entrance hall and the restaurant. It creates the initial point of a 400 meters long curved axis of concrete. In this building are located the changing rooms, taking up two levels: one for women and one for men. On the third floor there's a beautiful sun terrace and the restaurant.

Bellerive Plage, Lausana, Canton de Vaud. Uno de nuestros lugares favoritos para disfrutar del cálido verano. Este complejo es un ejemplo de arquitectura funcionalista, con piscinas y un edificio circular que contiene el restaurante y el hall de entrada, creando el punto inicial de un eje curvo de 400m. hecho en hormigón. Una idea rotunda que albergará los vestuarios, en dos niveles, uno para mujeres y otro para hombres. En el tercer piso encontramos una terraza y el restaurante.

The entire complex was built from 1936 to 1937, during a time of economic crisis. The project was part of a plan to counteract unemployment: to promote job-creation machines were not allowed on the construction site. The architect was Marc Piccard from Lausanne. He was also responsible for enlarging the site in 1962. A meticulous renovation was carried out in 1993 by the architects Inès Lamunière and Patrick Devanthéry, with careful attention to the historical parts of the building.

El conjunto fue construido de 1936 a 1937, durante un periodo de gran crisis económica. Se hizo formando parte de un plan contra el desempleo, en incluso para promover la creación de puestos de trabajo, no se utilizaron máquinas en la construcción. El arquitecto fue Marc Piccard, natural de Lausanne. También fue el responsable de la ampliación en 1962. Años más tarde, en 1993, una meticulosa restauración fue llevada a cabo por los arquitectos Inès Lamuniére y Patrick Devanthéry, con particular cuidado a las partes más antiguas y valiosas del edificio.

Every detail is well-designed as the handrails, the pergolas for sun protection or the springboards. It surprising how modern this building looks in spite of its construction in 1936!

Todos los detalles estás muy cuidades y diseñados como las barandillas, las pérgolas para la protección solar, o los trampolines. Es increíble lo moderno que parece el edificio, a pesar de su construcción en 1936!

During the summer season the "plage" opens from 9:30 to 20:30 (it depends on the weather), and the entrance fee is 5,5.- for adults, 4.- for students.
