Annecy-le-Vieux, France

qué ver en Annecy
Last Saturday we spent a great time with our friends in Annecy. This French city is a popular day trip from nearby Geneva (and Lausanne). And it is called the Venice of Savoie because a network of canals criss-crossing the town and bridges decorated with beautiful floral baskets remind of Venice. It is really pretty and charming but it is also very touristy and crowded! They were having an antique market last Saturday and all the streets were lined with beautiful furniture, décor and jewelry.

Annecy´l lake (le lac d'Annecy) is very popular and the second largest lake of the country of France after the lake Bourget. After walking around and appreciated the beautiful old part of Annecy. We decided to rent a motor boat for one hour, costing 50 €, it was a super idea! A boat driving license isn´t necessary and we could enjoy the sunset from the middle of the lake!

traboules vieux lyon passages

Les traboules. This is maybe for us the most interesting historic place in Lyon, in spite of the great palaces and castles, these small corridors and stairs, full of narrow patios through which light arrives in charming colors to the ground, makes the visitor feel like in the middle age, imaging old merchants transporting their products. At this period the traboules allowed workmen and craftsmen to transport clothes and other textiles through the city while remaining sheltered from inclement weather. For many inhabitants, being a "true Lyonnais" requires being knowledgeable about the city's traboules! http://www.lyontraboules.net/parcours.php

Lyon, France. We've decided to make ocasionally posts of the most interesting places close to Switzerland. For that reason we've tried to summarize our last weekend in Lyon in the last week post http://www.lovingswitzerland.com/2013/05/musee-gallo-romain-lyon.html and this one. For us it was a surprising cool city, unfortunately it was raining almost all the time. However we've found some really nice restaurants and city corners. Two images of this lovely city. Thanks for following us!

Lyon, Francia.
