James Blunt's restaurant, La Vache - Verbier. James Blunt, the British pop star, opened his own ski restaurant in Verbier. La Vache is situated at 2730 meters above sea level, with a spectacular view across the Swiss Alps. During our ski day some weeks ago, we spent our lunch time there. A huge variety of pizzas, soups and hamburgers, we thought it would be something more glamorous, but it was tasty. A bit expensive for a pizza, but it's like this in a place like Verbier. 


Restaurante La Vache, Verbier.  James Blunt, la estrella británica del pop, abrió su propio restaurante en las pistas de esquí de Verbier. La Vache está situada a 2730 metros sobre el nivel del mar con unas vistas impresionantes de los Alpes Suizos. Hace unas semanas estuvimos esquiando allí y aprovechamos para conocer este restaurante. Tienen una gran variedad de pizzas, sopas y hamburguesas, no era exactamente lo que nos esperábamos, pero estaban buenas. Un poco caro para este tipo de comida, pero es lo normal en un sitio como Verbier.

It's decorated warmly, with some cows in the terrace, it's a cool place to stop for lunch.

Está decorado cálidamente en su interior, y con vacas en la terraza. Es un sitio agradable para parar durante el esquí. Recomendamos reservar.

Glacier 3000, Vaud

Glacier 3000, snow paradise at 3000m. Skiing in summer in Switzerland it's possible and this is one of the places to practice it! It's a good idea to include a visitt to the alpine village of Les Diablerets (1200 m), and afterwards continue to this glacial area at 3000 m. of altitude that links the cantons of Bern, Valais and Vaud. There you can hike or practise winter sports, with an amazing panoramic view over the eternal snows, and all the mountains over 4000m. of altitude that sourround it, being the Cervin or the Mont Blanc among them.

Glaciar 3000. Esquiar en verano es posible en Suiza, y este es uno de los sitios para hacerlo! Una buena excursión, es combinar una visita a Les Diablerets (1200 m), un pueblo alpino, y después continuar a su glacaiar a 3000 metros de altitud. Allí se puede hacer hiking o practicar deportes de invierno sobre las nieves eternas con una vista panorámica increíble: todo montañas alrededor en 360°, 24 cumbres con más de 4000 metros de altitud, entre ellas el Cervino y el Mont Blanc.

There are 25 km of ski slopes, 3.5 of cross-country ski, the snowpark, raquettes paths (50 km) and "l'alpine coaster". It's a roller coaster where you can reach 40 km/h, it was closed the time we visit, so we will try next time! Hay 25 km de pistas esquiables, 3.5 de esquí de fondo, un snowpark, caminos para raquetas de nieve (unos 50 km) y una montaña rusa alpina. Esta vez estaba cerrada, así que la probaremos la próxima vez que vayamos! Si queréis ver Les Diablerets, ya hicimos un post

One of our favourite trips was this one, when we went up to Glacier 3000 and we walked through the snow on a sunny day to La Quille du Diable, http://www.lovingswitzerland.com/2013/11/la-quille-du-diable-vaud.html , this view really amazed us. It's indispensable going on a clear day, to enjoy of it. If it's too cold to walk there's a chance to stay at Botta's restaurant, and to go to the view point on the terrace. It's located at the same building where you arrive with the cable-car.

Una de nustras excursiones favoritas fue ésta, la subida a Glaciar 3000 y el paseo sobre la nieve para llegar a La Quille du Diable, http://www.lovingswitzerland.com/2013/11/la-quille-du-diable-vaud.html, sus vistas realmente nos imrpesionaron. Es indispensable ir en un día despejado para disfrutarlo. Si hace despasiado frío para andar también existe la posibilidad de quedarse en el restaurante del arquitecto Botta e ir al mrador al que se accede desde la terraza del edificio. Todo complejo, restaurantes y llegada del telecabina forman parte del diseño del arquitecto.

The Olympic Museum, Lausanne

The Olympic Museum, Lausanne. Our friend Miguel came to visit us and he wanted to see the renovation of The Olympic Museum. After a few years living here we had never thought about going, but this time we didn't have a choice. It was more interesting than we thought. You could see all the Olympic torches from 1928 until the last one, including a movie carrying it in the Opening Ceremony. The most impressive is the one of 1936 in Berlin during the Nazism. There were also posters, medals, old sports gear,...

El Museo Olímpico, Lausanne. Nuestro amigo Miguel vino a visitarnos y tenía ganas de ver la renovación del Museo Olímpico. Después de unos años viviendo en Lausanne, nunca se nos había ocurrido ir a este museo, pero esta vez no teníamos escapatoria. Resultó ser más interesante de lo que pensábamos. Nos resultó curioso ver en directo y tan de cerca, sin vitrinas, todas las antorchas olímpicas desde 1928 hasta la última, incluyendo un vídeo con el momento de llegada de la antorcha a la ceremonia de apertura. El vídeo que más impresiona es el de 1936 en Berlín, durante la época de Hitler. Había también posters de cada olimpiada, medallas, antiguo material deportivo,...

The Olympic Museum first opened to the public on the 23rd June 1993. After almost two years of renovation works, it has now an additional exhibition space of 1,000m2, designed by the architectss Brauen & Wälchli from Lausanne. The restaurant has been moved to the south side of the museum to offer a breathtaking view over the lake and the Alps, and it's really well-designed. It is worth having a coffee or a drink there.

El Museo Olímpico abrió al público en junio de 1993. Los últimos dos años lo han estado reformado, y ahora tiene 1,000 m2 más de exposición. El restaurante ha sido movido a la parte sur del museo para ofrecer vistas sobre el lago Léman y los Alpes, está muy bien diseñado. Merece la pena tomar allí un café.
